Signal Quilts of the Underground Railroad
A TRIBUTE TO THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD
This quilt is based on the book "Hidden In Plain View" by Jacqueline Tobin and Raymond Dobard, PhD. The story of Ozella Williams' family quilts is the foundation to the 2-Block-a-Month program and the quilt, A Tribute to the Underground Railroad, made by Rita Fishel. 
Rita was fascinated by Ozella's story and decided it would be a wonderful topic for a 2-Block-a-Month program through the shop. In preparation, Rita did a lot more research on Signal Quilts and incorporated this information into the quilt kits. The program has an overview which includes a bibliography of all the
information, and each kit contains one pattern, the story that accompanies that block (footnoted references), the fabric to make the block, and anything necessary to make the kit successful (example: if triangle paper is needed to simplify the block construction, then it is included). Each kit is $10 and there are 20 blocks to complete the quilt. Finishing kit including sashing, borders and binding is $30. If you are interested in making this quilt, contact the shop through
